Rice University in Houston hosts Friends of NMAL's town hall fundraising and awareness event

Friends of NMAL return to Houston for the second time to spread awareness for the creation of the Smithsonian National American Latino Museum in DC. Houston has a rapidly growing Latino population that was at 44% in 2010. As such, Friends of NMAL could connect with local Hispanic leaders interested in telling a more inclusive version of US history to raise money and spread awareness. Guest speakers included Richard Tapia, Eduardo Diaz, Marie-Theresa Hernandez, Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez, and pro-tem mayor Ed Gonzalez.
